I found this website with quite a few games using the Microsoft suite. Some of the resources are free and others are available for purchase. The generic game board templates can be modified to suite class content. I can see myself using them to review grammar or vocabulary words in an ESL class and teach notes and rhythms in a music class. The teacher just needs to type up a list of the things she wants the kids to remember and copy them into the game squares. It would probably work best to divide the class into small groups of 4-6 students and give each group a game sheet. In a large class, the teacher could assign one dependable student to each group as a referee supplying him or her with the answer key.
There are several templates but I will focus on two; one that is generic and the other with a race car theme. The first could be used for any class including adults. The race car theme is more suitable for ages 8-12, preferably boys. If using the latter, the stakes could be raised by offering a hot wheels car as a prize- a fun ending to the semester.
